CNC KIT FOR ATLAS
CNC KIT FOR ATLAS/CRAFTSMAN LATHES
AN EASY BOLT-ON KIT
PLEASE NOTE: This is a preliminary page for a
proposed system. Not all details, costs, nor equipment offerings have been finalized. We
welcome any input, comments, desires, and questions you may have. A time table for first
delivery has not been determined to date.
This kit as presently envisioned will be offered with 4 or more models with
varying levels of accuracy and capability. These kits will allow the machinist to optimize
feed and cut rates to the material and machines capability. Tapered shafts become a simple
program addition. Accuracy and, maybe more importantly, consistency will increase
dramatically. All kits will include the motors, mounting brackets, wiring harness, CAM
software, and a base CAD software system. There may be additional software offerings to
provide greater complexity for the advanced CAD user. These kits will need a dedicated
computer to run the software to drive the system. Konzeption Design can include the
necessary computing system if desired but computers and their peripheral equipment will
not be included in the base kit offerings.
- The base kit, AL Kit One, will be a 2 axis design with control of the X
and Y axis and manual control of the spindle speed. Feed screws will be based on the
existing acme thread but modified to take out any historisis effects up to the limits of
the components. This kit will be the most economical adaptation available. Options will be
available to easily upgrade to the higher precision kits.
- The second kit, AL Kit Two, will be based on AL Kit One but utilize precision
rolled ball screws and modifications to take out any historisis effects up to the limits
of the components. This kit will provide improved accuracy and higher feed rates.
- The third kit, AL Kit Three, will be based on AL Kit One but utilize precision
ground ball screws and modifications to take out virtually all historisis effects up to
the limits of the components. The precision ground ball screws will offer the highest
accuracy and consistency.
- The forth kit, AL Kit Four, will be based on AL Kit Three but with the addition
of control of the spindle axis. This will allow infinite control of cut rates, thread
pitch, and allow for accurate threading including tapered pipe threads or specialty
threads not possible with an analog manual system.
